In 1933, the Kuomintang conquered the Central Soviet Area with 400 thousand army and the area was endangered. The head of independent corps of third army of red army, Lign Changfeng (starred by Yu Zhen) was asked to be Party representative in soldier factory and to lead the subordinates to produce powder needed to break down the enemy’s planning, Wolf Fang. However, powders were destroyed by a spy hiding in the internal factory, Zhong Shaocai, so Ling Changfeng had to find another method and then he made some powder from enemy with the method of borrow arrows with thatched boats.   

The head of spy, Zhou Jianbai (Tuo Zonghua) wanted to have sneak attack on factory. He pretended to prepare to advance along one path while secretly going along another; do one thing under cover of another to confuse Ling. He destroyed in the Soviet Area。 Ling Changfeng gave tit for tat and then he destroyed five contact stations of the army of Bai when he went to the back of enemy. Zhou found the house of Bai was in fire and then he had to retreat since he could not take good care of both side. Hence, the plan to have sneak attack on factory was gone.

To have a further smash of the plot of enemy encircled and annihilated the area, Ling Changfeng and technicians of the factory started to study high explosive. It was out of expectation that the weapon expert sent by Center from Cefan, Nanchang, Fang Shengkai, was also spy of enemy. He became obstacles in the process of development, but Fang was touched by the chivalrous liver and courage of Ling Changfeng and he surrendered to Ling at the critical time, so the high explosive was successful, which consolidated basis for the red army breaking through the enemy army.

The head of spy, Zhou Jianbai, ordered Zhong Shaocai (starred by He Lin) to destroy the high explosive at all cost. Zhong Shaocai was caught by Ling Changfeng when she took her job. Ling Changfeng signed her young age and he did not want to see her to be withered. Zhong Shaocai was swaying from being continued to be loyal to her faith or indulging her feeling. Then, she chose to correct direction and delivered wrong situation to Zhou Jianbai.

Zhou Jianbai was so angry, and he came with soldiers when he found that he was cheated. They met with the Ling Changfeng who was preparing explosive to cover the red army in Motian Mountain. In the battle, Zhong Shaocai pressed the detonating mechanism of explosives and then there was a beautiful change from sworn to butterfly. She made a celebration salute for the final victory in the campaign against encirclement and suppression in the Central Soviet Area with the blood and life.

Zhou Jianbai committed a suicide and Ling Changfeng led the team to have a journey to south withdrawal.
